Drachma Anniversary meeting - Friday 19 September 2025

Today marks the 21st anniversary from Thursday 17th September 2004, when the first meeting for LGBTI+ people of faith was held at Millennium Chapel Complex. That group of people eventually became Drachma LGBTI+ and then since 2008, Drachma LGBTI+ and Drachma Parents.
Throughout these last 21 years, Drachma was a safe space for many, a pit stop, a place where they could ask questions of their faith and sexuality, where they could explore their identities, and where they could continue their life journey, while accompanying other people also on the same journey.
Throughout these 21 years, Drachma has touched the lives of many, and has been a voice of hope, of possibility, and a prophetic voice that has spoken truth to power. it has bridge built with the Church and with the LGBTIQ+ community. It has supported human rights not just for LGBTIQ+ persons, but for the human rights of all. It has walked with the Church, as it has walked with the LGBTIQ+ community.
Today, at 21, we thank God for this wonderful journey. We hope we may continue being this voice for truth. We hope we can continue accompanying people in their journeys, helping them bring together their faith and their sexuality. And we thank the generosity of many who have, through their presence, helped Drachma to be what it is today. Thanks to all who have been unique building blocks in making possible Drachma.
